Work-related injuries often result from accidents including slips and falls. A workplace injury does not necessarily have to have stemmed from an accident to qualify for worker’s compensation, however. Your employer is required to carry worker’s compensation insurance, and you are entitled to the benefits for any injury that occurs in your workplace during the course of your normal work tasks. This insurance covers your medical costs, as well as short-term disability for the time you are unable to work. If gross negligence or recklessness on the part of your employer or another employee factored into your injury, you may be entitled to additional damages as well.
